Our History
For Hydra’s habitués, the Pirate bar is a day to night meeting point.
For the passengers, it’s a landmark to experience and to be seen in.
Founded in 1976, years ago, as the place to party the night away in Hydra in a two story stone house suggestively located in the middle of one of Greece’s most picturesque ports, the Pirate is where the island’s connoisseurs spend their mornings, afternoons and nights.
You haven’t been to Hydra if you haven’t stopped by the Pirate.

Locals and visitors come together at the much-loved Pirate Bar. With views overlooking the coast, while away the day with homemade dishes such as Nona's Pasta before Hydriot mixologists serve revellers until the sun rises.Vogue
Inside there is a bar — an alcoholics’ bar, the best kind of bar. You could quietly drink yourself to death here. It has that kind of peace. The Spectator
The Pirate Bar is run by a hardworking family serving drinks and light bites from a prime spot on the water. This is a mellow, trendy spot to be at late at night.Rick Steves

During the day, friendly Wendy and Takis and their kids run this café with first-rate coffee, some of the island’s most delicious breakfasts and home-cooked lunches (9am to 5pm), then morph it into a raging party place at night. Music changes with the crowd and the mood.Lovely Planet
They have written ‘The Pirate Bar’ on every conceivable surface. I like this. It is not redecorated to please passing billionaires who arrive by yacht. I like this too.The Spectator
The Cafe
The day starts early in the morning with delightful breakfasts, homemade sweets and uber-fresh fruits from the Pirate’s kitchen.
The menu shifts after sunset, leaving space to a wide array of fresh cocktails prepared by the mixologist of island’s best stocked bar, to enjoy in a laid back atmosphere with the suggestive views of the port.
The Bar
Hydrian nights pass from the Pirate, whether you’re more into relaxed chats to be accompanied by delicious cocktails or in the mood for partying late.
While the tables outside are perfect for easy socializers, the lively dj set inside invites the island’s loud partygoers to follow the rhythm of the music for as late as it gets!
